* In 2003 Richard Texier, official painter of the navy, went on a nomadic residency for three months at the Cordouan lighthouse. This jewel of maritime architecture nicknamed "the king of lighthouses", whose construction began in the 16th century and listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2021, will be a unique place of creation in the artist's career. Although he devoted most of his time to painting for the preparation of a summer exhibition in Sainte-Palais-Sur-Mer in Charente-Maritime, he also decided to devote himself to the technique of engraving. Varnished copper plates set sail in the backpack of intaglio carver Christian Mameron. On site the duo worked on a series of prints and two rare books. “In-situ” and “the celestial west” by navigator Isabelle Autissier.

In situ, artist's book engraved by Richard Texier.
